# BCV: other currencies

> Retrieve BCV references for EUR, CNY, TRY and RUB and their published value date.

`GET /v1/fx/bcv/currencies` · All plans. Each value is VES per unit of the named currency. USD is excluded; use `reference` for the official USD rate.

<span id="request" />

## Request

Returns the latest captured snapshot, which may announce a future value date. No parameters required; supports [formats](/en/api/formats). The old `/v1/beta/fx/bcv/currencies` route has been removed.

Run these examples on your server. JavaScript and Python use the clients in the [quickstart](/en/api/quickstart#paso-2); configure `COTIZAVE_API_KEY` there.

<CodeGroup>
  ```bash curl theme={null}
  curl --fail-with-body --max-time 10 "https://api.cotizave.com/v1/fx/bcv/currencies" \
    -H "X-API-Key: $COTIZAVE_API_KEY"
  ```

  ```javascript Node.js theme={null}
  import { cotizave } from './cotizave.mjs';
  const data = await cotizave('/v1/fx/bcv/currencies');
  console.log(data);
  ```

  ```python Python theme={null}
  from cotizave import cotizave
  data = cotizave('/v1/fx/bcv/currencies')
  print(data)
  ```
</CodeGroup>

<span id="response" />

## Response

Illustrative response: figures and dates are not current quotes.

```json theme={null}
{
  "reference_value_date": "2026-10-20",
  "reference_value_date_text": "Martes, 20 Octubre 2026",
  "rates": {
    "EUR": 550.12,
    "CNY": 66.42,
    "TRY": 10.15,
    "RUB": 5.83
  },
  "captured_at": "2026-10-19T21:00:00Z"
}
```

`reference_value_date` is the published value date in `YYYY-MM-DD` format. `reference_value_date_text` preserves the source label, including when reading English documentation. `rates` maps currencies to values; `captured_at` is the capture time, not the effective date.

## Publication versus applicability

You can display an upcoming value date while indicating that it is not yet applicable. To convert EUR using the current reference, use `/v1/fx/convert?from=EUR&to=VES&amount=100&via=eur_reference` and inspect `effective_date`. Do not automatically use the latest publication for an invoice dated before it.

<span id="errores" />

## Errors

`404 bcv_snapshot_unavailable` indicates that no snapshot is available.

The [common errors](/en/api/errors) for authentication, quota and availability also apply. API error responses are JSON; branch on `code`, not on the text of `message`.

## Source and precision

Shares snapshot storage with `/bcv/banks`; captures may differ if an update occurs between calls. Preserve the received precision and apply rounding when displaying or fixing amounts.
